Social media activity delivers 15:1 ROI

Recruitment

“Where’s the ROI from social media marketing?” Last week I was delighted to hear a resounding answer to that question from a client who had achieved a handsome ROI of 15:1 simply by leveraged her online networks.

The MD was seeking to fill a specialist role at her Bristol-based marketing agency, and was expecting to use a recruitment agency, as she had in the past. However, realising that her team had built up a valuable online network in the sector in question, it made sense to ask that network for help in finding the perfect candidate. Twitter was a quick and easy way to spread the word. I played a small part in sharing the message onwards to my own (primarily Bristol) following:

Career alert RT @ Still looking for that elusive new colleague over here! http://t.co/Q4DOsIy
@MickDickinson
BuzzedUp.co.uk

It worked a treat. Like me, people were happy to pass along the message, which eventually reached two excellent candidates.

“… (we used) the power of online and social media in the search for our candidate – to whom we have just offered the job. The saving to our business, assuming we would have … worked with a recruitment consultant rather than doing things the way we just have, is £7,500! It’s allowed us to stretch the salary budget a bit further, too.”

Please read the case study about how I introduced Pam Lloyd PR to social media six months ago. The agency now uses social channels to great effect — both to promote itself and to benefit its own clients.

Hi, Where does the 15:1 figure come from? Was there some kind of £500 investment? Cheers, Em.

Hi Emily, yes the £500 approximates to the fees involved in my introductory training. Sorry, I should have made that clearer, and thanks for posing the question.

Ah, makes sense – I’m a stickler for stats! Thanks
