When I run social marketing workshops, do #SM presentations, or host training on the topic, one of the most common questions is “How are we supposed to make sense of all the tweets? There’s millions of them!”
It’s a fair point. There are estimated to be over 100 million Twitter accounts (although a large percentage are inactive).
- Just how do you find people you’re interested in?
- How do you know what is being talked about in your area?
I usually start to answer the question by browsing straight to Twitter Search.
It was the very first place I found that helped me organise the chaos when I began using Twitter. And, while the list of third party search and filter tools for Twitter has exploded, it remains the ‘purest’, and so maybe the best.
That’s why I thought this video from Common Craft was such a great intro for newbies.
